Police Ask For Help To Find Missing Camper

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help to find a missing man.

On December 28th, 52-year-old Dale Teige told a friend he was going camping east of Cottage Grove. When he didn’t return as expected, the friend reported him missing. Since then, search and rescue crews have been scouring the area.

Teige was last seen driving a red 1992 Ford Ranger with a white canopy and license plates reading DAUZ.

Lane County Sees Increase In Cases Of Swine Flu

Oregon Health officials say it's not too late to get a flu shot. They hope you will because there's been an uptick in cases in the past week. A number of people in Lane County have tested positive for swine flu, or H1N1.

Applesauce Processor Gives Coburg A Pass

The City of Coburg got some bad news Wednesday.

Applesauce producer Materne announced it will not locate its new processing facility in Lane County.  Coburg Mayor Jae Pudewell says the processing facility was expected to bring 230 jobs to the area.

Pudewell: "We're obviously very disappointed.  We were hoping to have them join our community, and I think we could have done good things together.  It's a business decision and I'm sure they're doing what's best for them."

Winter Weather Closure Information For Tuesday

University of Oregon:
 UO will resume its regular schedule Tuesday morning at 8.

Oregon State University:
Campus reopens at 9am Tuesday.

Lane Community College:
Lane Community College:  LCC Eugene and Cottage Grove locations opening at noon: 8 and 10 a.m. finals will be rescheduled. 12 p.m. finals will be on time. Florence center open.

Lane County Must Pay Former Employee's Attorney's Fees

A lawyer who lost his job with Lane County has been awarded attorney's fees after winning a public records lawsuit. Lane County Circuit Judge Jody Mooney ruled today Wednesday that the county must pay Marc Kardell $14 thousand.

Marc Kardell was successful in October in a suit against Lane County. Judge Mooney found the county violated state public records laws by delaying it's response to Kardell's request by 3 months. Kardell spoke outside the courthouse following the judge's decision to award attorney's fees.

Money Available to Help With Utilities

People who anticipate needing help paying their utility bills this winter can sign up now for the Low Income Energy Assistance or LIHEAP program.  The program is available to people who are at or below 60 percent of Oregon’s median income. That’s around $18-hundred a month for a single person.

Jason Davis is spokesman for Lane County Health and Human Services. He says the waiting list fills up fast.

Elections Officials Caution About Closed Ballot Drop Boxes

Lane County  officials remind voters this election to only use ballot drop boxes that are open. 

Three groups of Lane County residents are casting ballots in the general election – those in the Springfield and Junction City School Districts and residents in the River Road Park and Recreation District.  Correspondingly, only drop boxes in Junction City, Springfield and at the River Road Park office are open.
