Public Input Sought For Marine Reserves

The Oregon legislature recently designated two areas along the coast as marine reserves. The state hopes to involve the public in the new sites.

Cape Perpetua north of Florence and Cascade Head near Lincoln City join two marine reserves already protected by a 2012 law. In 2016, Cape Falcon near Cannon Beach will round out the coastal sites.

State Representative Caddy McKeown Will Host Town Halls

State Representative Caddy McKeown from House District 9 will host the first of three town hall meetings on Saturday at Coos Bay Town Hall. She will discuss the 2014 legislative session. She hopes to collect feedback and answer questions from community members. The meeting takes place tomorrow from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Details on the three meetings are as follows:

Oregon State Fair To Be Managed By New Council

Starting next summer, the Oregon State Fair will be run by a new 11-member council. It's the first step following legislation passed earlier this year to transition the Fair and Exposition Center to a public corporation.
