Sales of marijuana in the small Lane County city of Creswell remain banned.

A contentious ballot initiative in Creswell has both sides of the issue calling foul on each other.  As KLCC’s Brian Bull reports, one of the more prominent spats is over a fake voter guide.

Last year, Creswell residents voted to ban sales of marijuana.  Now a new ballot initiative backed by investment group One Gro aims to lift that ban.  They say Creswell stands to become a cannabis empire, raising thousands of dollars in annual revenue.  Critics say it’ll not only hurt the character of the city, but also pave the way for a marijuana monopoly.  KLCC’s Brian Bull reports.

Based on recent data, Eugene has the highest per capita number of approved licenses for marijuana dispensaries in the state. At their work session Wednesday City Councilors were unwilling to place a 1,000-foot buffer zone between shops.

The Oregon Department of Revenue says nearly a quarter of the recreational marijuana dispensaries haven't registered to pay the first installment tax on pot sales.

Oregon Pot Sales Higher Than Colorado And Washington

Oregon's recreational marijuana sales were higher than Colorado and Washington during their first week of sales. Pot stores sold more than 11 million dollars worth of the drug. That's according to the non-profit trade group "Oregon Retailers of Cannabis Association." ORCA Executive Director Casey Houlihan says there were multiple factors contributing to the State's higher sales.

Coburg City Council Bans Marijuana Sales

The City of Coburg voted Monday to ban all marijuana sales. Measure 91 allows cities whose voters passed pot legalization by less than 55 percent to make their own decision on marijuana sales.

In a 5-1 vote, the Coburg City Council approved an interim ban on the sale of medical and recreational marijuana. No dispensaries are currently located in Coburg. Mayor Jae Pudewell says voters in the community were divided on Measure 91.
