Oregon lawmakers are considering legislation which would require workers who don't currently have a savings plan set up, to set aside money for retirement. House Bill 29-60 and Senate Bill-615 would create a Retirement Savings Board and a payroll deduction plan for workers in the State. Joyce DeMonnin says people are more likely to save money if it's deducted from their paychecks.

Oregon Treasurer Ted Wheeler, the state’s banker, was in Eugene Tuesday.  In his first full term, the 51-year-old Democrat leads the bipartisan Retirement Savings Task Force studying how to improve retirement savings options for Oregonians.  Before presiding over the first in a statewide series of conversations on the topic, Wheeler stopped by the KLCC studios and spoke with KLCC's Claude Offenbacher.

You could call it "The Retirement Bowl." University of Oregon Defensive Coordinator Nick Aliotti joined University of Texas Head Coach Mack Brown (today) by announcing his retirement following Monday's Alamo Bowl.

Most of the recent conversation surrounding the Alamo Bowl has been Texas Coach Mack Brown's forced resignation. Steve Tannen hosts the Sports talk show "Crunch Time" on 95.3 The Score in Eugene. He says both football programs will use their coaches' announcements as inspiration. And he says Aliotti's decision isn't surprising.
