Roughly a hundred people gathered at South Eugene High School Wednesday to discuss whether or not the school mascot, “The Axemen” should stay or go. KLCC’s Brian Bull reports.

This Wednesday, the 4-J School District will hold a meeting on the future of South Eugene High School’s mascot, the “Axemen”. This follows a petition to have the team name changed.  KLCC’s Brian Bull reports.

Hundreds of South Eugene High School students walked out of class today [Wednesday] in protest of the election of Donald Trump as President. They rallied at the University of Oregon and then marched to Kesey Square.

South Eugene high school held its mock election today.  As KLCC’s Brian Bull reports, it lets students cast ballots similar to the general election.  

Three Local High Schools Among Best In State

U.S. News and World Report included three area schools on their 35 Best High Schools in Oregon released Thursday. South Eugene ranked in the top 10, Lowell and Churchill ranked 19th and 23rd respectively. But the report has little impact at the local level.

Six Eugene high schoolers will compete at the National Speech and Debate tournament in June. The teens qualified in regional competition over the weekend.

Although the Eugene Celebration isn't happening this year, there will be a parade. There's also a celebration concert Saturday evening as part of the festivities.
