West Eugene

Lane Transit District received a large gift Friday from the federal government for its Em-X bus extension to West Eugene.

Eugene Police Department

The Eugene Police Department is asking the public for any information about a stolen painting. Between May and August, a person purchased a painting from a Eugene second-hand store. It had been stolen in a burglary from a residence in West Eugene. The painting features a Vietnam countryside and according to the victim; it is a quilt-style.

EPD is not looking for the suspect, as he has already been arrested. The store and the purchaser would be considered victims also. Anyone with any information on the piece is asked to contact EPD.

Pre-Construction activities are scheduled to begin in May for the West Eugene Em-X transit project.

Beyond Toxics

A pilot research project will study the health effects of air pollution in West Eugene.

A new technology will be deployed to track West Eugene residents' exposure to air pollutants. Participants will wear a wristband that takes air samples, use a cell phone app to transmit data and a spirometer to test lung function. Oregon State University Environmental Health Sciences Center is running the study. They've been working closely with Lisa Arkin of Beyond Toxics.
